The Dordogne



The Dordogne, is a district (department), in the region Aquitaine which owes its name to the river of the same name, was created during the French Revolution on 4th March 1790, on part of the former province of Perigord.
The Dordogne is the 3rd forestry district in France with 45% of forest. Thanks to its location, it benefits from a particular temperate climate, making it a nice area to live in all seasons.

The Perigord Noir (Black)



The Perigord Noir is located southeast of the Dordogne. With the Perigord Vert (Green), Blanc (White), and Pourpre (Purple), it is one of the four major entities of this tourist area.
Of the four Perigord, the Perigord Noir is the one who has the most important tourist attractions. With its landscape, it's rivers and sites, it is an ideal location for holidays, short breaks and long weekends.

Cenac-et-Saint-Julien



Cenac-et-Saint-Julien, located at the foot of the village of Domme at the edge of the Dordogne, is 7 miles (11km) from the town of Sarlat-la-Caneda and 11 miles (18km) from the town of Gourdon.
It is also close to tourist attractions such as Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Beynac, La Roque-Gageac, the Château des Milandes and the gardens of Marqueyssac.

The village of Domme
Situated 5 km from the castle of Maraval, Domme is a medieval town overlooking the Dordogne valley and offering an exceptional panoramic view. Domme is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Superb village on a rocky hillside, la Roque Gageac, located 6km from the castle, is also classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

The unavoidable town of Sarlat is 12km from the castle. Its incredible wealth of historical and classified monuments and the beauty of its town centre make Sarlat a must for tourism in the Périgord.
